2008 Coast View Vineyard Chardonnay
Coast View Vineyards is located in a remote area on top of the Gavilan Mountains at a dramatic elevation of 2400 feet. Planted in decomposed granite, organically grown.
2008 vintage was one of the very best in recent memory in California. Flavors of apple cider and poached pear with distinct notes of toasted oak and nutmeg. Pairs well with seafood and poultry but is enjoyable on its own.

2008 TONDRE GRAPEFIELD PINOT NOIR Santa Lucia Highlands
The 2008 Tondre Grapefield Pinot Noir is our fourth release from this vineyard. The Tondre Grapefield is located in the heart of Monterey’s Santa Lucia Highlands, with the elevation ranging from 175 to 400 feet. This all-Pinot Noir vineyard has the ideal terroir to grow a magnificent Pinot Noir grape. The fruit is a blend of one third each Pommard, Dijon 115 and
667 clones.
Everything about this wine was handmade in our minimalist approach. After an initial sorting, we fermented the grapes in small, open-top bins that were punched down two to three times daily to extract color, flavor and complexity. The wine was pressed off into French oak barrels of which 40% were new. There it rested for 11 months before bottling.
This is very aromatic: spicy, sweet oak, cherry, and dried rose aromas; well-integrated oak and cherry, rhubarb, raspberry flavors; long, textural finish. Very balanced wine with food-friendly acidity.
2006 Chula Viña Vineyard Pinot Noir - Monterey
Our first release of a vineyard designated Pinot Noir and so begins our ongoing relationship and experimentation with the great potential of single vineyard Pinots from the Monterey region. Purely Pinot Noir in character, the wine shows off black cherry and plum aromas that return the flavor. Notes of toasted cedar smoke and spice are well integrated into the wine. Velvety tannins and apparent structure that we believe is a critical component of fine Monterey Pinot Noir.
2007 Lockwood Oaks Meritage
Our 2007 Meritage was grown in Lockwood Oaks Vineyard, owned and managed by the fabulous Joyce Yates, in the southernmost reaches of Monterey County in the new “San Antonio Valley” AVA. She grafted over some of her Cabernet Sauvignon at our request to produce the Petit Verdot, Malbec and Merlot in this blend. This is the first Meritage from this vineyard, and we are very pleased with the result.
The final blend is 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec, 13% Cabernet Franc, 13% Merlot and.13% Petit Verdot. We picked at peak ripeness, sorted the grapes to assure only the best and most consistently ripe bunches made their way into the wine and finally aged the blend in French & American oak barrels for 10 months. Fifty-percent of the barrels were new.
The result is a rich, dark wine that is luscious in character. Black currant, spice, chocolate and cocoa notes rise up in the aromas. The flavors of this wine are infused with blackberry fruit, more black currant, cocoa and mocha, with a touch of herbal and spice characters. The wine is rich, the finish long.
2006 Tondre Grapefield Pinot Noir - Santa Lucia Highlands
The Tondre Grapefield is located in the heart of Monterey’s Santa Lucia Highlands, with the elevation ranging from 175 to 400 feet. This all-Pinot Noir vineyard has the ideal terroir to grow a magnificent Pinot Noir grape. The fruit is a blend of one third each Pommard, Dijon 115 and 667 clones.
The 2006 Tondre Grapefield Pinot Noir is our second release from this vineyard. Everything about this wine was handmade in our minimalist approach. After an initial sorting, we fermented the grapes in small, open-top bins that were punched down two to three times daily to extract color, flavor and complexity. The wine was pressed off into oak barrels of which 40% were new. There it rested for 11 months before bottling.

2006 PINOT NOIR Monterey County
The grapes included in this blend were harvested from three distinct sites: two vineyards on opposite sides of the Salinas Valley in Monterey (Chula Viña and Tondre Grapefield), and also from our own estate vineyard, Hilltop Ranch, in Carmel Valley. Chula Viña tends to express very broad dark fruit, nice tannin and mouthfeel. Tondre is a classic pinot: aromatic, delicate, complex yet full-bodied. Hilltop Ranch Pinot is bold, dark, expressive.
Everything about this wine was handmade in our minimalist approach. After an initial sorting, we fermented the grapes in small, open-top bins that were punched down two to three times daily to extract color, flavor and complexity. The wine was pressed off into oak barrels of which 28% were new. There it rested for 10 months before bottling.
The resulting wine is purely Pinot Noir in character; the wine shows off black cherry and plum aromas that return in the flavor. Notes of toasted cedar and spice are well integrated into the wine. The balance and complexity of this new wine is achieved in large part from its velvety tannins and apparent structure that we believe is a critical component of fine Monterey Pinot Noir.

NV Howlin' Good Red Dessert Wine
We are pleased to offer this non-vintage Dessert Wine, made in the spirit of a “Port.” We are unable to call it Port, however, both out of respect to true Port from Portugal and because of international law.
This wine is made from a proprietary blend of grape varietals all from Monterey County. We then added high-quality, barrel-aged spirits from the famous and exclusive Germain-Robin Alambic Distillery in Mendocino County that were personally selected by our winemaker. These spirits are distilled in genuine French copper pot stills from small lots of varietal wines and aged in 100% French Oak barriques for one year. The result – 8 barrels of unique and interesting wine – no barrel quite the same as the next due to the unique nature of making wine in this manner. We bottle this one barrel at a time.
The result is a rich, dark wine that is luscious in character and not too sweet. Bramble, chocolate and spice notes rise up in the aromas. The flavors of this wine are infused with jammy dark bramble fruit, and tree spices and is rich with a long, satisfying finish.
2009 Tondre Riesling
This wine is the first of its kind from this vineyard. Joe Alarid (son of Tondre Alarid and vineyard manager), planted Riesling to diversify his vineyard, and we are glad he did. The Tondre Grapefield is located in the heart of Monterey’s Santa Lucia Highlands, with the elevation ranging from 175 to 400 feet. Sunny but cool days and a long growing season gave these grapes a lot of time to develop beautifully.
Everything about this wine was handmade in our minimalist approach. Most of the grapes were loaded by hand and pressed as whole clusters in our small pneumatic presses & a portion were destemmed and allowed to macerate with the skins. The juice was slowly fermented in a cold stainless steel tank and purposefully left as a sweet, low-alcohol wine.
Description: complex, pleasing aromas & flavors of honeysuckle, stonefruit & limepeel; sweetness, acidity and low alcohol produce a balanced, versatile & quaffable wine. Serving suggestions: serve cold with hors d’oeuvres, cheese courses, with spicy Asian or California fusion dishes, or on its own in warm weather.
2007 Cedar Lane Sauvignon Blanc
The Cedar Lane Vineyard is located on a very rocky piece of land that is an old river bench. Wind rushes through this opening to the Valley washing out the fog early in the day, but keeping the vineyard cool in the midst of sometimes intense sun.
This Sauvignon Blanc – all Musque clone -- was harvested by hand on September 12 & 18, 2007 and was the first fruit to come into our winery. We received a total of 10 tons between two days of harvesting. The grapes were carefully pressed in small batches and then 50% of the juice was fermented in a stainless steel tank, and the remainder was fermented in old French oak barrels. As a result of this handling, it is characterized by floral, tropical and grapefruit aromas and has a rich mouthfeel while maintaining a crisp, food-friendly acidity.
2007 Chula ViÑa Vineyard Chardonnay
The Chula Viña Vineyard is located on a protected bench in the eastern hills overlooking the Salinas Valley. While the cooling fog keeps Chula Viña from ripening too quickly, its protected location assures the strong ocean-influenced winds do not stunt the vines progress. In combination with the warm afternoon sun, these factors provide a setting for the growth of stunning fruit.
The 2007 vintage was one of the very best in recent memory in California. The weather was relatively dry throughout the year which produced small, well-formed clusters, and the weather was the best one could hope for – not too hot, not too cold – and produced high-quality wine grapes with which to work. The wine was aged in barrel, sur-lies, for 10 months and was produced and bottled without any fining or filtration. This minimalist approach keeps the wine in its natural state, allowing the fruit flavors to shine through and express an irrepressible complexity and delicacy.
This wine is a pure varietal expression of Chardonnay with flavors of ripe apple, lemon, melon and a distinct minerality. Notes of toasted oak and cedar round out the wine. The firm acidity of this Chardonnay creates a structure that gives it a refreshing profile that pairs well with a variety of foods including seafood, chicken, or hors d’oeuvres.
2005 Chula ViÑa Pinot Noir
The Chula Vina Vineyard is located on a protected bench in the eastern hills overlooking the Salinas Valley. While the cooling fog keeps Chula Vina fruit from ripening too quickly, its protected location assures the strong ocean-influenced winds do not stunt the vines' progress. In combination with the warm afternoon sun, these factors provide a setting for the cultivation of stunning fruit. Grapes ripen slightly quicker on this side of the valley attaining a robust, complex character.
Everything about this wine was handmade in our minimalist approach. After an initial sorting, we fermented the grapes in small, open-top bins that were punched down two to three times daily to extract color, flavor and complexity. The wine was pressed off into oak barrels of which 27% were new. There it rested for 14 months before bottling.
Purely Pinot Noir in character, the wine shows off black cherry and plum aromas that return in the flavor. Notes of toasted cedar, smoke and spice are well integrated into the wine. The balance and complexity of this new wine is achieved in large part from its velvety tannins and apparent structure that we believe is a critical component of fine Monterey Pinot Noir.

2008 Tondre Grapefield Pinot Noir
2005 Hilltop Ranch Estate Pinot Noir
We offer this inaugural vintage with pride. This small bottling of Pinot Noir is from our estate vineyard 700 feet above sea level and 14 miles from the ocean in Carmel Valley. The grapes that come from this vineyard are generally of small size and are much darker and richer than most Pinot Noir fruit, and we attribute this to soil, clonal selections, and climate.
It is a blend of fruit from all of the blocks in the vineyard and is a powerful, dark, rich wine with aromas and flavors of plums, blueberries, leather, earth, smoke and spice. It will benefit from some bottle ageing now since it is still in its infancy, and because it’s a well-structured wine, it will age in the cellar for at least the next 10 years. We recommend giving this wine some air after opening, or decanting it.
The imprinted label is a precious metal, combining silver and palladium silk-screened on the bottle, then hand finished with ribbon, silver foil necker and numbered on the back.
2005 Hilltop Red Blend
Our 2005 Hilltop Red has at its heart Bordeaux varietals. We found them, as you would assume, in the southern part of the Monterey region where the warmer clime allows them to achieve full ripeness.
The final blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petite Sirah. The dollop of Petite Sirah lends a touch more color to the wine as well as slight spice hints. We picked at peak ripeness, sorted the grapes to assure only the best and most consistently ripe bunches made their way into the wine and finally aged the blend in French oak barrels for 10 months. Fifty-percent of the barrels were new..
The result is a rich, dark wine, luscious in character and sporting silky, rather than harsh, tannins. Black currant, spice, vanilla and coffee notes rise up in the aromas. The taste of the Hilltop Red is infused with brambly blackberry fruit, more black currant, cocoa and mocha. The wine is rich, and the finish long.
